We went to the baby food festival last week (yes, we live in the town where Gerber baby food originated, so the festival is a big deal around here...complete with rides, food, street sales, free baby food, a parade, baby crawl races, and a baby food queen).

Joel had mixed emotions about this ride.....he thought the cars were cool when he was close to us, but every time it took him to the side furthest away from us, he was very, very concerned.
The ride kind of went: happy, slightly concerned, *gets to the side furthest from us*,  very alarmed, *gets to the side mom and dad are on*, very happy, *oh wait...it's taking me to the other side*, very alarmed again, repeat over and over.

Watching other kids on the car ride afterwards....still not too sure about it.

Joel tells Lincoln stories.
"And THEN, I got stuck in the johnny-jump-up! And mom had to save me!"

World Through Joel's Eyes

365 #54
I let Joel take pictures with my camera.
He took some of the most interesting pictures....
...at the most interesting angles.
At least, I was highly entertained going through all the pictures he took.
Haha.
Ok, that's all for now.

My exercise cheerleader.
This is her face while I exercise....
...and this is her face when I stop. It's incredibly motivating.
Just look at all the condemnation! She's like, "I can see stomach flab mom! Get to work!!!"

"STUUUUUCK Mooooom!!!!"
I have to save him from the johnny-jump-up several times a day. Not real sure when he's going to learn that it's not as fun as it looks when Selah is in it.

Beauty in the dryness.
This summer has been the dryest summer in 25 years in Michigan. We don't water our grass, and I've never seen it get brown...even in the middle of winter, it's still green under the snow. Until now....now it's brown and crispy. It has been hard for the farmers....working long hours digging new wells searching for water, irrigating the dying plants. And no matter how much you irrigate, it isn't the same as rain....REAL water. It reminds me how great God is....how if He didn't provide the rain....we would cease to exist.
Then Joel picked it.
"Look mom! FWOWER!"

Update: since writing this post, it has rained....enough to maybe make things green again.

 Talking to Trent on skype.
 Joel kept saying, "MY Trent!"

Everyone misses Trent while he's staffing at Worldview Academy.

Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream

365 #38
My little helper.

Chocolate Coconut "Ice Cream"

1 can Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk (NOT the lite version), refrigerated for at least 1 hour
1-2 T. cocoa powder
1-2 T. sugar

Scoop the coconut solids out of the can into a bowl, leaving the watery part. Add cocoa powder and sugar to taste. Whip together for a minute adding the coconut water from the can as needed to make it fluffy. Eat as a pudding or freeze in individual bowls to make ice cream.
