Also, has anyone heard of yellow watermelon? Do we have this in the States?

Katitipan Visit #2

Janelle and I went back to Katitipan this time armed with charts, doppler, BP cuff, thermometer, etc. There are several pregnant women in Katitipan that we had the opportunity to give prenatals.

My new continuity Darling :)

After prenatals, we went over to Candy's house for dinner because it was her birthday.

It was raining when we needed to go home. Filipinos really dislike rain (a rather unexpected cultural trait in a rainy country), and Candy's family wanted us to spend the night so that we wouldn't have to walk to the road to catch a taxi, but we were able to compromise by using umbrellas. :)

Wondrous Works

Last week, Carmen (one of my house moms) and I got up before 5 and ran to the Santa Anna wharf a couple miles away. We wanted to see the sunrise, and although it was too cloudy for a colorful sunrise, it was still gorgeous.

When we arrived:
The tide was flowing up and over the wharf.

Katitipan Visit

This week, Janelle and I went about an hour away to visit her continuity, Candy, and her family.

They cooked us a fabulously delicious meal of chicken, dried fish, vegetables (okra, eggplant, and pumpkin), and rice.

And sang hours of karaoke...

Janelle singing...ahem....true Filipino karaoke :D

We got the chance to meet some other people in the town, and some of the guys climbed a tree and gathered a bag of the fruit santol (similar to mangosteen)for us to take home.

Great day....we'll be back in a couple of weeks to do prenatals on all the buntis ladies there.
